In July, Bishop Museum celebrates the reveal of a new exhibit in its Science Adventure Center, Lele o Nā Manu: The Splendor and Loss of Hawaiʻi’s Birds, opening to the public during July’s Museum After Hours on July 12, 2024. Also, on view from July 19 is a new installation in historic Hawaiian Hall, Faith and Philanthropy: Queen Emma Kaleleonālani’s Visit to England, 1865-1866.
Bishop Museum Collaborates With UNIQLO Ala Moana, Local Artist Jared Nagura, and Museum Educators and Scientists to Create New UTme! Designs

Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, the State of Hawai‘i Museum of Natural and Cultural History, has collaborated with UNIQLO Ala Moana, local artist Jared Nagura, and Museum educators and scientists to create new designs for UTme!, UNIQLO’s custom printing service. The colorful stamps reflect Bishop Museum’s cultural and natural science collections, as well as its iconic buildings and Planetarium constellations.

Opening to the public in the Museum’s Castle Memorial Building on May 25, this new, original exhibition is the first of its kind to gather material culture of Oceania to articulate the multiple uses and understandings of a single color: RED.

In June, Bishop Museum welcomes the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FestPAC) kālai (carving) and kākau uhi (tattoo) villages to its campus, as well as special programming inspired by the Festival. June also sees the return of the Celebrate Micronesia Festival to the Museum, hosted in partnership with the Pacific Islands Development Program (DIDP) and the East-West Center.
