Bishop Museum Launches Online Experiences for Japanese Speakers

“Bishop Museum’s Japanese Online Experiences” consists of 24 scheduled online experiences between January and December 2021 that showcase the history, culture, and environment of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific through the lens of the Museum’s signature galleries, original exhibitions, and livestreamed presentations.

In the spirit of the holidays, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum and Kealakai Center for Pacific Strings will present “Kaula Piko: Leʻa I Ke Kani Concert, Featuring the Legendary Ledward Kaapana and Very Special Guests” Alan Akaka, Pōmaikaʻi and Mālie Lyman, Douglas Poʻoloa Tolentino, Bobby Moderow Jr, Kamuela and Kaʻihi Kimokeo, Kenneth Makuakāne, Ocean Kaowili, and Halehaku Seabury.

Bishop Museum scientists and collaborators with Hawaiʻi’s Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Snail Extinction Prevention Program and the University of Florida Natural History Museum have described what is considered to be the last living species of a group of native Hawaiian land snails that were previously thought extinct.
