Program Overview 

Now playing: the extended cut of a planetarium show favorite, T. REX! 

Chronicling the true story of three boys’ discovery of a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex fossil in July 2022 in North Dakota, T. REX takes you through the life and times of this iconic dinosaur. Transport yourself back in time to explore prehistoric Earth with Cretaceous creatures through this blend of documentary and CGI artistry. Produced by Giant Screen Films. Narrated by Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill. 

Admission includes access only to the J. Watumull Planetarium lobby exhibit, Wayfinders: He Waʻa He Moku, He Moku He Waʻa and a seat for the screening of T. REX in the planetarium theater. 

Evening’s Schedule 

  • 5:00 p.m. – Check-in begins in the Planetarium lobby 
  • 5:15 p.m. – Planetarium theater doors open for seating 
  • 5:30 p.m. – The show begins with a live-presented exploration of the night sky. Then, sit back and enjoy T. REX (42 min)! 
  • 6:30 p.m. – Film concludes; lobby exhibit open for exploration 
  • 7:00 p.m. – Closure of lobby and end of event 

 

Additional Details 

  • This is an in-person event at the J. Watumull Planetarium at Bishop Museum. No online options or recordings will be available. 
  • Seating is first come, first served. 
  • No late seating. Program will begin at 5:30 p.m. 
  • Check-in and entry will be near Bishop Museum’s Shop Pacifica (front entrance and gift shop). The check-in area will be located at the top of the main staircase/ramp and to the right. 
  • No food or drink will be sold at the planetarium. There is no eating or drinking inside the theater. 
  • The planetarium is fairly cool; you may want to bring a light sweater. 
  • Please pay for parking using a mobile phone through a posted Parklinq QR code (card payments only) or have your member parking sticker on your car. Please see Directions and Parking for more information. Parking in Museum lots is $5.00/vehicle after 5:00 p.m.
