Event Overview
Join visiting presenter Kaitlyn Martin from Te Ara Whānui ki te Rangi Space Place at Carter Observatory as she shares stories of the southern hemisphere’s skies from Aotearoa New Zealand! This live presentation highlights night sky views of the austral summer season, and shares understandings from time on land and at sea, with special focus on the perspective from 41°S in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.
Following the live presentation, immerse yourself further in southern skies through a screening of Ngā Tohunga Whakatere: The Navigators, which showcases Māori, Pasifika, and European navigational knowledge across time in voyages to Aotearoa New Zealand. Film produced by Experience Wellington (Space Place) and Island Productions Aotearoa.
