The City Nature Challenge is a global community science effort to document biodiversity around the world.

The global challenge involves two main parts:
1. An Observation Period, where participants take pictures of plants and animals and upload them to the iNaturalist community science platform (April 29 – May 2).
2. An Identification Period, where participants log on to iNaturalist and help identify the uploaded photos made during the Observation Period (May 3-8).

Bishop Museum is hosting an event on Sunday, May 8, during the Identification Period of the global challenge. Participants will engage with our Natural Science collections to learn how to identify the plants and animals commonly found across O`ahu, conduct their own biological surveys around the Museum campus, and play games for prizes!

The City Nature Challenge is a collaboration and partnership between the Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Program at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa and Bishop Museum.
