Bishop Museum is honored to partner with the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana in commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the landing of the Kahoʻolawe Nine.

This opening talk story session, Laʻa, explores the sacred act of consecration — how aloha ʻāina is grounded in ceremony, intention, and responsibility. Reflecting on the courageous 1976 landing at Kūheʻeia, presenters will share how Kahoʻolawe continues to teach us what it means to hold ʻāina as sacred and to stand in principled relationship with it.
