Program Overview

Set your eyes on the Moon as it passes through Earth’s shadow in this total lunar eclipse! Totality, when the Moon appears to be the deepest red in color, will be from 1:00-2:00 AM on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Take a seat and look upwards with fellow enthusiasts from Bishop Museum’s Great Lawn to observe this astronomical event, clouds permitting.

  • Jackets, mats/blankets, binoculars, and flashlights suggested
  • Telescopic viewing with expert guidance led by the University of Hawai’i Institute for Astronomy
  • Planetarium eclipse previews at 11:30 PM, 11:50 PM, and 12:10 AM

 

Entry Information

Please be courteous when entering and exiting the neighborhood due to the hours of this event.

  • Free parking available in Bishop Museum lots
  • No alcohol permitted
  • No vehicle entry to Great Lawn
  • Telescopes and astrophotography setup permitted
