Celebrate International Observe the Moon Night with us on October 3rd! Join Hawaiian Astronomical Society and Bishop Museum planetarium staff in viewing the Moon (weather permitting) and participate in activities illuminating the Moon’s craters and beyond.
Join observers around the world engaging in lunar science and exploration, making celestial observations, and honoring cultural and personal connections to the Moon. Last year, 1.3 million people participated in 127 countries and all 7 continents in this global event. This year, the moon remains in the spotlight as NASA prepares to return to the Moon with the Artemis missions, planetariums and other organizations raise moon trees, umbraphiles chase the Moon’s shadow in upcoming solar eclipses, and much more lunar research continues featuring Earth’s only natural satellite.
