This year Bishop Museum’s Education and Planetarium departments debuted a new STEM program Eyes on Island Earth for our school group visits. This new program combines two exciting visual experiences, the planetarium and the Science On a Sphere. Eyes on Island Earth allows students to explore why Hawai‘i is a great place to learn about Earth system science and to discover how NASA satellites help us in our explorations of the planet.
The Science On a Sphere portion allows students to learn about Earth systems and see the visual data sets created with information collected by satellites. The planetarium portion of the program goes into Hawai‘i as a system and teaches students how to see satellite passes over Hawai‘i. If you are interested in having your class experience Eyes on Island Earth head over to our Book a School Visit page.
