Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels

American animation characters have captured the hearts and imaginations of children for more than a hundred years. Today, through breakthroughs in stop-motion and CGI technology, kids of all ages are drawn into the world of animation in creative and educational ways. Visitors will explore the unique world of animation at Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum’s newest traveling exhibit, “Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels,” on display in the Castle Memorial Building from Oct. 7, 2017–Jan. 14, 2018. Using 19 interactive components from drawing stations to a 3D stop-motion station, visitors will see their favorite animated characters come to life.

Heiva i Vaihi

In partnership with Tahiti Mana Productions, a Tahitian dance troupe based on Oahu, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum will host a day of festivities on the Great Lawn as part of the Heiva i Vaihi, a celebration of Tahitian culture on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. The sports competition and entertainment showcase at Bishop Museum will kick off a two-day festival that will conclude on Monday at the Hawaii Theatre.

Shop Pacifica Grand Opening

Bishop Museum recently completed a renovation of its gift shop, Shop Pacifica. In celebration, a grand opening event will be held featuring live entertainment, book signings, children's storytelling, food and drink sampling, local featured artist talks, and prize giveaways!
