The process of finding the right source of wood, bringing out the life of the board, and naming the surfboard involves culture, protocol, and respect. Get a feel for shaping the wood and gain some insights into understanding the connection between shaper and board inherent in the process of creating a traditional wooden Hawaiian surfboard.
The Bishop Museum Living Culture presentations and workshops are supported by Hawai‘i Tourism through the Kūkulu Ola Program.
