POSTPONED until Summer 2020 — Please stay tuned for details!
Within the exhibit Mai Kinohi Mai: Surfing in Hawai‘i, in the Castle Memorial Building
The legendary Duke Paoa Kahanamoku was many things to many people. Father of modern surfing. Hawai‘i’s first Olympic gold medalist. Ambassador of aloha. Experience Duke’s story in this one-man theatrical production written and performed by Moses Goods, and see why Duke Kahanamoku is unquestionably one of the most important and beloved figures in Hawaiian history. Complementing the performance of Duke, ʻInamona Theatre Company will present an excerpt of Bryan Hiroshi Wake’s play Queen of Mākaha: Rell Sunn and there will be surf-themed live music for a full-evening celebration of surfing. This production is a partnership between Bishop Museum and ʻInamona Theatre Company.
