Prior to the coming of human beings, many of the plants and animals living in Hawaiʻi were found nowhere else in the world. With the arrival of Pacific Island peoples and their staple crops, new plants for food, medicines, and materials were brought to Hawaiʻi. Join us on a tour of the Bishop Museum’s ethnobotanical garden to learn about the plants that help to define the uniqueness of Hawaiʻi and connect these special islands to the broader Pacific.
