Hālau o Kekuhi from Hilo, Hawaiʻi under the direction of Kumu Hula Nālani Kanakaʻole and the Kanakaʻole ʻOhana, leads a hula and oli workshop in tribute to the traditions of Aunty Edith Kanakaʻole. Bishop Museum and the Edith Kanakaʻole Foundation present this hula and oli workshop on the Gallery Lawns in front of the historic Hawaiian Hall. Join Hālau o Kekuhi to learn more about the hula, choreography, and compositions of Aunty Edith Kanakaʻole.
This workshop is titled “Hiʻipoi I Ka ʻĀina Aloha” (Cherish the Beloved Land) to pay tribute to Aunty Edith Kanakaʻole’s second album of the same title.
Registration fee $40
*Please bring water and come prepared to dance and chant
*The workshop capacity is limited to 40 people
*Open to all levels of experience, everyone is welcome
*Registration fee includes Museum admission for the day
