Bishop Museum Science & Sustainability Festival 2022 ʻĀina

Members free with Membership card
Pre-registration is recommended.

Bishop Museum’s Science & Sustainability Festival (BMSSF) is an annual event that provides opportunity for the community of Hawaiʻi to explore sustainability, connect with museum scientists and our partners throughout the state.

Explore natural science collections, research and meet community partners. This year’s theme focuses on relevant topics of today – specifically the conservation and sustainability of ‘āina, land or that which provides food and other resources.

Activity Highlights

  • View Bishop Museum Natural Science collections and learn about ongoing research projects from staff.
  • Participate in a Sustainability Scavenger Hunt and learn about sustainability initiatives on campus.
  • Passport Activity Visit the various passport stations and collect all the stamps in order to receive a unique, upcycled item.
  • Hidden Pacific Planetarium Program 10am | 11:30am | 1pm | 2:30pm Tickets: $3 Members & keiki under 4 yrs: Free, ticket still required.
  • Meet Hawai‘i’s Scientist Short talks from local scientists for all ages.
  • Visit Parley for the Oceans, Ocean School to learn about the oceans and see how they transform plastic waste into useable products.
  • Meet our community partners – Sustainability cannot be achieved in isolation – as such, Bishop Museum has invited organizations from within our communities to partake in the day’s event and share with our guest the good work they are actively engaged in.
