Join today!\nEvent Overview\nJoin visiting presenter Kaitlyn Martin from Te Ara Whānui ki te Rangi Space Place at Carter Observatory as she shares stories of the southern hemisphere’s skies from Aotearoa New Zealand! This live presentation highlights night sky views of the austral summer season, and shares understandings from time on land and at sea, with special focus on the perspective from 41°S in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington.\nFollowing the live presentation, immerse yourself further in southern skies through a screening of Ngā Tohunga Whakatere: The Navigators, which showcases Māori, Pasifika, and European navigational knowledge across time in voyages to Aotearoa New Zealand. Film produced by Experience Wellington (Space Place) and Island Productions Aotearoa.\nEvening’s Schedule\n\n6:30 p.m. – Check-in begins. Enjoy planetarium lobby exhibits and views over the Great Lawn.\n6:50 p.m. – Show seating begins.\n7:00 p.m. – Planetarium show presentation and screening of Ngā Tohunga Whakatere: The Navigators (35 min). One-hour-long seated theater experience.\n8:00 p.m. – Program concludes; Presenters available for additional Q&A time.\n8:30 p.m. – Event close\n\n \n*Tickets are only available for purchase online. No on-site registration will be allowed at the event. No entry without pre-registration due to limited seating.\n**Guests 3 and under will be expected to share a seat with an adult/guardian.\nProgram Details:\n\nThis is an in-person event at the J. Watumull Planetarium at Bishop Museum. No online options or recordings will be available.\nSeating is first come, first served.\nNo late seating. Doors close at 7:00 p.m. when the program begins. Please plan to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m.\nCheck-in and entry will be near Bishop Museum’s Shop Pacifica (front entrance and gift shop). The check-in table will be located at the top of the main staircase/ramp and to the right.\nCheck-in and viewing of the planetarium lobby will begin at 6:30 p.m. Doors open for planetarium seating at 6:45 p.m. The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. and last approximately an hour.\nNo food or drink allowed in the planetarium.\nThe planetarium is fairly cool, you may want to bring a light sweater.\nEvening parking is $5 beginning at 5:00 p.m. Please pay for parking using a mobile phone through a posted Parking QR code (card payments only) or have your member parking sticker on your car. Please see Directions and Parking for more information.\nTickets are fully refundable until 6:00 p.m. the night of the show.
