DESCRIPTION:\n.greybox { background-color:#efefef; padding: 15px;}\nWays of Wayfinding\nThursday June 13, 2024\nJoin guest navigators in the J. Watumull Planetarium for special presentations that introduce celestial navigation, intertwined with moʻolelo and memories that shape and guide the experience of a wayfinder. Each session will run 50 minutes including audience Q&A. Seating is limited capacity. See schedule and admission instructions below.\n\n\n\nPlease note: Planetarium tickets must be purchased in person. Planetarium tickets are only available on-site due to limited seating in the theater.\n\n\n \n “Navigating along Kealaikahiki” with Haunani Kane \n\nHave you ever wondered what it’s like to navigate on our voyaging canoes? Join us as we voyage along Kealaikahiki, the path to and from Tahiti. We will learn the heavens, and study the ocean as we search for island homes from the deep sea.\nHaunani Kane is a scientist, surfer, and voyager from Kailua, Oʻahu. Haunani has been mentored since her youth in traditional Hawaiian wayfinding and navigation by the Polynesian Voyaging Society, and many of voyaging heroes. Haunani has spent nearly 200 days at sea aboard both sailing and modern research vessels. As a voyager and climate scientist, Haunani’s research looks at the resilience of islands and their people to climate change.\n\nPlanetarium Admission Instructions \n $3 with valid museum admission; free for Bishop Museum members.  \n\nAll planetarium tickets must be purchased or reserved in addition to general museum admission. Planetarium tickets are only available on-site only due to limited seating in the theater. Visit Shop Pacifica or sales kiosks in the planetarium lobby to purchase or reserve tickets. Bishop Museum members must still reserve tickets prior to showtime due to limited availability. Tickets are required for theater entry.\n\n
