Enjoy an outdoor screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas with popcorn, food, and drink vendors on the Great Lawn. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Tim Burton-inspired garb or Halloween costume and participate in a social media costume contest.\nSpotlight Program\nOutdoor Screening: The Nightmare Before Christmas\n6:30 p.m.\nLocation: Great Lawn\nJoin us on the Great lawn and enjoy Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) directed by Henry Selick. Film synopsis: Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington longs to spread the joy of Christmas. His merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere.\nOngoing Offerings\n5 – 9pm\nEnjoy popcorn, food, drink, and music on the Great Lawn\nMoon Exploration Activities\n5:00-9:00 p.m. – Outside Planetarium\nEarth’s Moon captures our attention in every phase. Explore the Moon’s features, model moonquakes, test out the Moon’s role in solar eclipses and more at this all-ages educational activity station.\nKeiki Activities w/ Ulu Aʻe Learning Center\n5:30-7:30 p.m. – Flanders Lawn\nActivities include ʻohe kāpala (create a greeting card using stamps), kōnane (out play your opponent in a two-player strategy board game) and kiʻi pōhaku (collect the most matching petroglyphs). For ages 5-10. A parent/guardian must be present.\nHawaiian Hall Tours\n6 p.m. and 8 p.m. – Hawaiian Hall\nImmerse yourself in the beauty and history of Hawaiian Hall. Join one of the daily public tours inside Hawaiian Hall to learn more about Bishop Museum’s history, its collections, and the living cultures of Hawai‘i and the Pacific. Meet at the staircase in Hawaiian Hall’s front entry tower.\nPlanetarium Shows – The Hawaiian Sky Tonight\n5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 8:30 p.m. – J. Watumull Planetarium\nEach show is 25 minutes. Tickets required; reserve at Shop Pacifica upon check in. Free for members and children under 4, $3 per person general admission. Limited seating. Learn what stars, constellations, planets, and more can be seen in the skies above Hawaiʻi the night of the show.\n
