What types of events can be held at Bishop Museum?

The Museum hosts all types of events including, but not limited to: dinners, receptions, meeting, performances, weddings, galas, award ceremonies, presentations, film shoots, product launches, shareholder meetings, webcasts, teleconferencing, etc. Bishop Museum and its subsidiary properties reserve the right to decline service to any client.

What is your pricing structure?

Although we do have base fees, each event is unique and thus we customize our usage fees based on the specific function space(s) being utilized and the amount of time needed.  Please contact our Events Manager to discuss your needs. 

When can events begin at Bishop Museum?

Facility rentals are available at Bishop Museum from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. The Museum is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and because of our responsibility to the visiting public some considerations for venue rentals will have to be made

Can my organization be the only one at Bishop Museum during my event?

Yes, we do offer full Bishop Museum usage at a special price, contingent upon needs and availability.  Please keep in mind that Bishop Museum often has events occurring simultaneously on any given evening and takes all precautions necessary to keep each event private, including separate entrances.

Can I bring my own entertainment?

Yes, but Bishop Museum reserves the right to disapprove any entertainment offered at special events to ensure the nature of the gathering is consistent with Bishop Museum’s mission.  We also require all entertainment to supply us with proof of liability insurance.  The name and type of entertainment must be provided two weeks in advance of the event. 

Do you offer any packaged event options for groups?

We customize each event based on the clients needs. For clients looking for a more packaged option, our Group Sales Department offers an After Hours Experience that includes private viewing of an exhibition and cocktail reception. This experience works well for groups of 50 or more.  Menus can be created to compliment the theme of your event.  Events can be enhanced with the addition of exhibition docents to interact with guests, audio tour or premium bar upgrades.

Can you tell me what the revenue you generate goes to?

Bishop Museum is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.  Each revenue dollar from a special event is used to continue the work of Bishop Museum including research, education and exhibit development.
