Bishop Museum's Data for Google Earth
Bishop Museum now offers a great new way to explore our vast collections for those interested in the cultural or natural history of Hawai‘i. Users can download two datasets and explore tens ofthousands of collection records using Google Earth's fun and easy geographic interface. After downloading the files you can make your own annotations, links to resources, save the changes and share them with friends, family, teachers or students.

The Collections of Mauna Kea
Natural Sciences, Library and Archives holdings
Data included are from the Bishop Museum's cultural and natural history collections, including the Library and Archives, Entomology, Botany, and Vertebrate and Invertebrate Zoology collections. NOTE: Archaeological data are NOT presented in light of the sensitive nature of many sites in the summit region of Mauna Kea.
Invasive Marine Species of Hawai‘i
This dataset is a cooperative project of the Bishop
Museum and the Hawai‘i DLNR DAR. Nearly two hundred
collection locations around Hawai‘i were surveyed
by Bishop Museum and State biologists for invasive
marine species over the past few years.
We are very excited about this new method of sharing our collections with a wider audience and hope that these two datasets are only the beginning of a series of geographically based tours of the Museum's collections. Comments or questions on this new effort are very much welcomed. Please let us know what you think.
