Quote
“ I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to our understanding of Hawaiian natural history.”

What he does
Conducts natural history surveys and consults with resource managers regarding conservation of native species.

How he got into science
My father was a member of the Hawaii mountain and trail club. He would take my brother and I on many long hikes to remote sites in the forest. While on these hikes we became exposed to many of Hawaii’s unique plants and animals. These hiking trips instilled in us a deep respect for the forest and our native species.

Favorite accomplishments
Coordinated and conducted natural history surveys in North Halawa Valley, Oahu.
Developed a comprehensive arthropod restoration plan for Laysan I.

In his free time
David looks for collectibles and antiques at the swap meet.
