Main Hawaiian Islands Alien Species Reef Monitoring Program.

An Hawai`i Coral Reef Initiative Project.

The Hawaii Biological Survey, with funding provided by the Hawai’i Coral Reef Initiative (HCRI), has been conducting surveys for introduced species in Hawai’i’s coral reefs.

The purpose of our study is to assess the presence and impact of nonindigenous (introduced) species on coral reefs in the Main Hawaiian Islands, with an emphasis on marine invertebrates.

The project also includes an outreach program including presentations and distribution of educational material on the subject to the diving community.
