Acanthocybium solandri
(Cuvier, 1831)

Hawaiian Name: Ono
Common Name:
Wahoo
Distribution: Throughout the Indo-Pacific

Remarks: The Hawaiian name for this species means "delicious"; and indeed, it is a highly-prized food fish. A relative of the tunas, it inhabits open-ocean regions but can also be seen above coral reefs.
