Bodianus sanguineus
(Jordan & Evermann, 1903)

Neon Wrasse
Common Name: Neon Wrasse
Distribution: Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands

Remarks: This species is only known on the basis of a few collected specimens. The one in the photograph was the first one ever taken alive. Exploration of deeper coral reefs has revealed that it is not uncommon at depths greater than 300 feet.
