attack, the United States declares
martial law and takes control of Kaho‘olawe.


1953 -
President Eisenhower signs an executive
order giving the U.S. Navy jurisdiction
over the island.





1965 -
The Navy explodes a 500 ton bomb
at Sailor’s Cap.
