Native Plants

Introduced Species

Most of the islands vegetation is dominated by introduced species,
though pockets of native species can still be found. A recently discovered
species, ka palupalu o Kanaloa, is found only on Aleale on the south
coast of this island. Pollen studies show that it was once
found throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
