This “family Sunday” At Bishop Museum Is “Dino-Mite”
Local And Military Families Offered Special Rate
Honolulu, HI – Discounted rates this Sunday, November 15, 2009 will make it a bit easier for kama‘āina and military families to see the latest exciting exhibits at Bishop Museum. In addition, visitors of all ages will enjoy various Family Sunday festivities!
This Family Sunday is centered on the featured traveling exhibit, Dinosaurs Unearthed. There will be food and numerous activity booths; and games – including a scavenger hunt with the chance to win dinosaur prizes, and more!
A 27-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex welcomes visitors to the popular traveling exhibit, Dinosaurs Unearthed. Once inside the exhibit located in the Castle Memorial Building, various dinosaur species seem to observe the onlooker. Highlights include a feathered juvenile Tyrannosaurus Rex, reflecting recent theories that some dinosaurs were indeed feathered; a baby Triceratops; and a duck-billed Parasaurolophus. Dinosaurs Unearthed remains on display till January 4, 2010.
Kama‘āina and military families get a discounted admission rate of $5.00 per person; regular admission rates apply for all other visitors: $15.95 for adults; $12.95 for youth (4-12) and seniors (65+). Children ages 3 and under and Bishop Museum members are FREE. Bank of Hawai‘i members pay a special admission of $3. To qualify for reduced rates, valid identification such as a Hawai‘i Drivers License/Military ID must be presented. BOH members must provide one of the following: a bank statement, ATM card, or employee ID.
Additional parking for Family Sunday will be available at nearby Kapalama Elementary School.
On Family Sunday, visitors will have access to all exhibit halls. This includes the newly opened fashion exhibits - Ka Lei Pāpale: Hats of Hawai‘i and Ho‘olaulole: The Joy of Wearable Art.
