Raiatea Helm Wraps Up 2009 Moonlight Mele Summer Series
Tickets on Sale Now for August 27th Performance
One of the sweetest voices in Hawaiian music today will wrap up this year’s Moonlight Mele on the Lawn at Bishop Museum. She is none other than Moloka‘i native, Raiatea Helm who will perform on Thursday, August 27, 2009. Prior to her performance the crowd will be treated to the vocal stylings of another Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner, Weldon Kekauoha.
Kekauoha has been winning music awards since his debut in 2000. He will be accompanied by Alika Boy Kalauli IV and Bryan Tolentino.
In 2006, Raiatea Helm became Hawai‘i’s first solo female vocalists to receive a Grammy nomination for her CD Sweet and Lovely. She has released her third CD entitled, Hawaiian Blossom, which shows off her versatility in Hawaiian music and jazz.
Advance ticket prices are $15 and are available now at Bishop Museum’s ticket office. Tickets bought the day of the concert are $20. A special rate of $10 apply to Bishop Museum members and military (valid ID must be presented), and Bank of Hawai‘i employees and customers. Concert starts at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for Bishop Museum members and 6:00 p.m. for general admission.
High chairs (with the exception of those with disabilities) and outside food and drink are prohibited. Low “sand” chairs, mats, and blankets are permitted. Gordon Biersch will be providing food and Waterfront Ventures will be providing drinks for purchase.
