2009 Moonlight Mele Line-up Is A Must See

You won’t want to miss this summer’s Moonlight Mele on the Great Lawn at Bishop Museum presented by Bank of Hawai‘i. This year’s line-up includes: Sean Na‘auao, Darren Benitez and Hōkū Zuttermeister, and Raiatea Helm.
Advance ticket prices are $15 and are available now at Bishop Museum’s ticket office. Tickets bought the day of the concert are $20. A special rate of $10 apply to Bishop Museum members and military (valid ID must be presented), and Bank of Hawai‘i employees and customers. Concerts start at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for Bishop Museum members and 6:00 p.m. for general admission.
The first performer kicking off the 2009 summer concert series on Thursday, June 25th is Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winner Sean Na‘auao. His island music solo career includes CD releases such as Giving Something Back, Hawaiian Living, Fish & Poi, Homegrown Hawaiian, and Neutralize it. Some of his hit songs include Drop Baby Drop, Li Hing Hula, and Fish & Poi.
On Thursday, July 30th, the falsetto Hawaiian and cachi-cachi hits of Darren Benitez will start the evening. The crowd will also hear songs from his latest CD release, Dear Mama. Also taking the stage that night will be 2008 Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winner, Hōkū Zuttermeister. Hōkū was nominated for 10 awards and won six of them for his debut CD, ‘Āina Kūpuna.
Wrapping up the series on Thursday, August 27th is one of the sweetest Hawaiian voices of today, Raiatea Helm. In 2006, Raiatea became Hawai‘i’s first solo female vocalists to receive a Grammy nomination for her CD Sweet and Lovely. She has released her third CD entitled, Hawaiian Blossom, which shows off her versatility in Hawaiian music and jazz.
