Mad About Science Festival Takes On Climate Change
Bishop Museum is proud to present its 5th Annual Mad About Science Festival on Saturday, April 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Great Lawn. This year’s festival is centered on Climate Change.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy a variety of hands-on activities, backhouse tours of Bishop Museum natural science collections, and climate change programs. The Great Lawn will also feature a petting zoo and keiki rides.
There will be lessons on “What You Can Do To Lower Your Carbon Footprint,” in which visitors are invited to walk a carbon footprint trail. And uncover the myths about Climate Change in a Mythbusters Station.
Organizations who are working towards combating climate change will have their own activity booths. They include: Hagadone Printing Company, Sustainability Association of Hawai‘i, Blue Planet Foundation, Reef Check Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Water Environment Association, Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Conservation Alliance, Plug-in America, Hawai‘i Water Environment Association, University of Hawai‘i International Pacific Research Center, Hawaii Ocean Observatory System, Plant and Quarantine Hawai‘i, State Department of Agriculture, and Oahu Invasive Species Committee.
Mad About Science is free for Bishop Museum members; discounted rates of $3 apply for all kama‘āina and military; regular rates apply for all other visitors: $15.95 Adults; $12.95 Youth (4-12) and Seniors (65+); Children (3 & under).
Admission to the event includes access to all of Bishop Museum’s exhibit halls and galleries including Animation.
