“Family Sunday” At Bishop Museum Highlights Animation
Local and Military Families Offered Special Rate

Honolulu, HI – Bishop Museum is pleased to announce Family Sunday will be held on March 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This Family Sunday is centered on the featured traveling exhibit, Animation.  Visitors will explore the amazing art of Animation through storyboarding, character design, drawing techniques, movement, filming, sound and more!

Kama‘āina and military families get a discounted admission rate of $3.00; regular admission rates apply for all other visitors:  $15.95 for adults; $12.95 for youth (4-12) and seniors (65+).  Children ages 3 and under and Bishop Museum members are FREE.

Additional parking for Family Sunday is available at nearby Kapālama Elementary School.

On Family Sunday, visitors will have access to all exhibit halls.  Throughout Bishop Museum’s campus there will be food and numerous activity booths – including a Wii contest; and educational activities.

The Animation exhibit is stimulating and fun where visitors explore animation from concept to finished product — from storyboarding, character design, and drawing techniques to movement, timing, filming, and sound.  Animation remains on display in the Castle Memorial Building till May 10, 2009. 

Animation at Bishop Museum is sponsored by Straub, Horizon Lines, Seven-Eleven Hawai‘i, Diamond Head Self Storage and The John Young Foundation.  The exhibit was developed by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in collaboration with Cartoon Network.
