Dela Cruz appointed Government Relations Manager

Donalyn Dela CruzHonolulu, HI – The Bishop Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Donalyn Dela Cruz as the Government Affairs and Community Relations Manager.  Dela Cruz started at the museum earlier this month, bringing a variety of government and media skills.

Dela Cruz is a former press secretary to U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka and former Communications Director of the Hawaii Democratic Party.  Most recently, she was the Principal Associate at Pacific Management Consultants, Inc., a local lobbying firm.  Dela Cruz was also a broadcast journalist at KHON from 1997 to 2003.

Bishop Museum’s Government Affairs Director, Jenny Chock Wooton said, “We are thrilled that Donalyn has accepted a position at the Bishop Museum.  Her passion for the Hawaiian culture along with her professional background is a nice fit.”

Dela Cruz was born and raised in Wahiawa, Oahu.  She is a graduate of Leilehua High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  In 2004, Dela Cruz studied Art History and Spanish Film in Seville, Spain.  She worked in Washington, D.C. for two years before returning to Hawaii in 2007.  Dela Cruz is currently a board member of Family Promise of Hawaii and a volunteer Camp Activities Director at the American Cancer Society Hawaii Chapter.
