8th Annual Educators’ Evening at Bishop Museum on Nov. 1
Bishop Museum’s 8th annual Educators’ Evening is set for November 1, 2007 from 4 until 8 p.m. Public and private teachers of all grade levels, from kindergarten to college, are invited to attend the event. Admission is free. Reservations are requested at education@bishopmuseum.org or 808.848.4168.
Hosted by the Museum’s Education Department, Educator’s Evening is one of the Museum’s ongoing efforts to support Hawaii ’s educators. The Museum campus will be filled with numerous resources for Hawaii ’s teachers, including a special sneak peek at the renovations of Hawaiian Hall. Guided tours will allow educators to embrace the history of the building and the new exhibit design.
Educators will have an opportunity to experience the myriad of educational programs offered by the Museum by visiting interactive stations and participating in presentations and discussions throughout the campus. Among the programs highlighted are Holoholo Science Outreach, Ola Na Mo‘olelo Cultural Outreach; Sleepover program, Lending Box program; Planetarium and Starlab Shows; and upcoming teacher workshops.
Teachers will also have the chance to win a free visit to the Museum for their class or educational group, in addition to special discounts on outreach programs and resource materials. Bishop Museum hosts more than 50,000 school children every year. The Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop as a tribute to his late wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha dynasty. Bishop Museum is a treasured resource of Hawaiian history and heritage, and the natural sciences.
