New Appointments in Museum Marketing Department

In a reorganization of the Communications, Marketing and Advertising Department at Bishop Museum, Blair Collis, Vice President of Public Operations has announced the appointment of Charlene “Charlie” Aldinger as Unit Manager and Director of Public Relations; Angela Britten as Corporate and Community Development Manager; and Megan L. Anderson as Marketing Manager.

Aldinger was formerly Director of Public Relations at the Honolulu Academy of Arts where she worked for nearly nine years. Prior to that, she was Director of Public Relations for the New Orleans Museum of Art in Louisiana . Aldinger is the co-founder of Arts With Aloha, a consortium of visual and performing arts organizations that work together to promote culture and the arts. She serves on the O‘ahu Visitors Bureau and the Hawai‘i Capitol Cultural District Marketing Committees, and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Association of Museums.

A graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography, Aldinger also served in communications capacities with the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange, Sheraton Hotels in Hawai‘i, The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Visitors and Convention Bureau in Monterey, California, and the Navy Family Service Center, in Alameda, California. Angela Britten is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Hawai ‘i at Mānoa (UH). She served as the Public Relations and Marketing Director for Mutual Publishing. During her tenure there, she helped launch the very successful Hawaii Book and Music Festival. In 2006, she served as the President of the Hawai‘i Book Publishers Association. An avid canoe racer, Britten has paddled in the arduous Moloka‘i to O‘ahu Outrigger Canoe race six times. Britten minored in Hawaiian Studies at UH and speaks fluent Hawaiian.

Britten will be responsible for developing corporate and community sponsorships in support of Bishop Museum ’s exhibitions and public programming. She will also be available for promotional outreach opportunities with service clubs and other community organizations. Megan Anderson joined the Museum in July. In her new capacity as Marketing Manager, she will oversee the advertising and marketing initiatives for the Museum as well as supervise the implementation of its new branding campaign.

Anderson was recently the regional marketing and sales assistant with General Growth Properties, Inc. in Honolulu where she assisted with ongoing tourism and public relations initiatives and center-wide promotional events for Ala Moana Center . She also served as an account executive with L.M. Berry Company in Honolulu , and as marketing assistant for Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood , California . Anderson also has experience in merchandising with both Neiman Marcus and Lands’ End Direct Inc.

Anderson is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Mississippi State University where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. She also received a Masters of Business Administration degree in Corporate Communications at Hawai‘i Pacific University .
