DINOSAURS ALIVE! OPENING DECEMBER 9 AT BISHOP MUSEUM

HONOLULU - Need a holiday distraction for your home-for-the-holidays children? Save your sanity…bring them to see Dinosaurs Alive! opening at Bishop Museum’s Castle Memorial Building December 9, 2006.

Visitors will step into a land that time forgot and meet some of the most awesome creatures that ever roamed the earth! Join a safari and explore the amazing prehistoric surroundings while marveling at moving, roaring dinosaurs. See how the sociable Triceratops lived in herds, caring for and protecting their young. Catch a glimpse of an Ankylosaurus, or a baby Apatosaurus. Get up close and personal with Utahraptor, Dilophosaurus and the Velociraptor. And don’t miss Baby Triceratops who you can teach how to walk using a joystick controller. (But please…don’t feed our dinosaurs—they’re on a special museum diet!)

Paleontologists, artists, sculptors, engineers, welders, mold makers, and computer experts at Wonderworks teamed up to create this fantastic animated exhibit that brings to life these amazing creatures—the gentle giants of a prehistoric era.

Kids can grab a comfy dino-mat and enjoy a claymation video about how dinosaurs lived. There will even be a great selection of colorful dinosaur costumes for re-enacting your own dino story with friends. And you can collect stamps of dinosaurs as souvenirs to show your class on your very own dino-passport.

But hurry….Dinosaurs Alive! will be moving on to greener pastures after January 26, 2007. For more information about Dinosaurs Alive!, call (808) 847-3511 or visit www.bishopmuseum.org. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Christmas. Members and children 3 and under are free!
