BISHOP MUSEUM ’S MOONLIGHT MELE ON THE LAWN CONCERT SERIES CLOSES WITH ISLAND FAVORITE, THE MAKAHA SONS

HONOLULU – Guests will be in for an evening filled with moonlight and melodies as Bank of Hawai‘i presents the final Moonlight Mele on the Lawn concert of the series at Bishop Museum on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 . The Makaha Sons will once again close out this popular island tradition with their signature style of harmonies and on-stage humor.

For 30 years, the Makaha Sons have committed themselves to perpetuating traditional Hawaiian music throughout Hawai‘i and the world. Today, they are considered one of Hawai‘i’s premiere Hawaiian musical groups, continuing that vibrant sound, full and rich with harmonies that only they can create. The incomparable vocal arrangements and delightful stage presence filled with comical antics of the Makaha Sons members, Louis "Moon" Kauakahi, Jerome "Boogie" Koko, and John Koko, have won the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide.

The Willows will be featuring a special Hawaiian plate with kalua pig, lau lau and more that may be enjoyed with an ice-cold Keoki beer right off the tap. Delicious barbeque plates and sandwiches from May’s Hawai‘i, and wine and snacks from Formaggio will also be available for purchase throughout the night to help create an ultimate sunset picnic on the Great Lawn.
