BISHOP MUSEUM PRESENTS A SPOOK-TACULAR EVENING FOR KEIKI OF ALL AGES AT 18 TH ANNUAL TREAT STREET
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HONOLULU – A spook-tacular night of fun awaits island families on October 31, as the Great Lawn at Bishop Museum is transformed into Treat Street . From 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. , costumed keiki will delight in safe trick-or-treating, kids’ costume, coloring, and eating contests, the Creepy Crawly Roach Race, fun games, jumpers and slides, and great food.

Treat Street , a custom-designed neighborhood of colorful house fronts built by students of the University of Hawai ‘i’s School of Architecture , will be at the center of the evening’s activities. Children under 12 are invited to gather Halloween loot as they trick-or-treat down Treat Street . Trick-or-treaters can also enjoy activity booths from GEICO, the Boys and Girls Club, and Bishop Museum ’s Education Department. Other highlights of the evening include a spookiest and most original costume, coloring, and eating contests. Participants can win great prize packages, which include an annual Family Membership to the Bishop Museum .

Another not-to-be-missed activity is the Creepy Crawly Roach Race. Crowds will enjoy rooting on the roaches as they make their way to the finish line, with the fastest roach claiming a prize for its racer. A Bishop Museum Entomologist will be on-hand to handle and supply the roaches and the track is designed so that participants can be at ease in knowing that there won’t be any roach rage.

Admission to Treat Street is free; however, donations are welcome and will help support the Museum’s education and outreach programs that serve children and families each year. The 18 th annual Treat Street is sponsored in part by the Bishop Museum Association Council, GEICO, and Advantage Webco Dodge Hawai‘i , and supported by a number of community organizations and businesses through prize donations and contributions.
