BMA COUNCIL ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS FOR 2005

HONOLULU – The Bishop Museum Association (BMA) Council has announced the election of the following 2005 officers: President Charles Fortner, Island Page; 1st Vice President Patti-Jo Chong, KKEA 1420 AM Sports Radio; 2nd Vice President Wayne Sterling, Prudential Hawaii; Treasurer Mark Fox, The Nature Conservancy; and Secretary Maura Jordan, Castle Resorts and Hotels.

Established in 1953, the BMA Council represents the interests of Bishop Museum’s nearly 7,000 members. The BMA Council is responsible for helping to facilitate membership campaigns and increased membership benefits by partnering with local companies, coordinating special events such as Treat Street and Moonlight Mele on the Lawn, and developing public programs like Traditions of the Pacific.

A treasured resource of Hawaiian history and heritage, Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop as a tribute to his wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha dynasty. Located at 1525 Bernice Street, the Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $14.95 for adults; $11.95 for youth 4-12 years; special rates for kama‘āina, seniors and military; children under 4 years and Bishop Museum Members are free.
