HAWAII MARITIME CENTER OFFERS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

HONOLULU — Imagine leading schoolchildren on a tour to a remote Northwestern Hawaiian Island, sharing 150 years of waterfront reporting, or preparing for a trip aboard the Polynesian voyaging canoe, Hokule‘a. You can as a volunteer at the Hawai‘i Maritime Center. The center is looking for enthusiastic, friendly people to fill a variety of volunteer positions such as tour docents and administrative assistants.

If you enjoy people, learning new things and would like to volunteer in a dynamic environment, call the Hawai‘i Maritime Center at 521-6151.

Hawai‘i Maritime Center offers visitors a look back at Hawaii’s extensive maritime history – from its discovery by Polynesian navigators 1,500 years ago, to contact with the western culture, to the effects of whaling. Located at Pier 7, Honolulu Harbor, the Hawai‘i Maritime Center is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call 536-6373 or visit www.bishopmuseum.org.
