FIFTH ANNUAL HONOLULU HARBOR FESTIVAL CELEBRATES HAWAI‘I’S HARBOR

HONOLULU – Hawai‘i Maritime Center, located on Pier 7, will open its doors to the public for the 5th Annual Honolulu Harbor Festival celebrating Hawai‘i’s rich maritime history with a fun-filled day of harbor-themed interactive booths, food stations and live entertainment. Taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, the Honolulu Harbor Festival aims to enlighten, entertain and inform visitors and residents about Honolulu Harbor’s long and vibrant history, and its vital role in the community today. Lawnfront of the Hawai‘i Maritime Center, guests will enjoy booths from Bishop Museum, NOAA Ocean Services, Hawai‘i Longline Association, Matson, Horizon, Oceanic Institute, USCG, The Dolphin Institute and many more. Adding to the 5th Annual Harbor Festival festivities will be live entertainment throughout the day including Taiko drummers, the Kailua Jazz Hounds and a Boston Tea Party re-enactment aboard the Falls of Clyde. In addition, the Hawai‘i Maritime Center will feature a winning poster display created by Hawai‘i’s keiki, highlighted by an acclaimed 40-foot panoramic photo of Honolulu Harbor. The Center’s ongoing exhibits will also be on display and admission is free during the Honolulu Harbor Festival. Underwritten by the local maritime industry with the support of Bishop Museum’s Hawai‘i Maritime Center and Aloha Tower Marketplace, the Honolulu Harbor Festival’s objective is to remind the community of the harbor’s presence and importance: economically, culturally, and historically. Additionally, the Harbor Festival provides a look at the Career Opportunities available on the waterfront. The Harbor Festival is free and open to the public. Limited parking is available at the Aloha Tower Marketplace ($2 self park with validation and $3 valet with validation). Nearby downtown parking garages are also available, such as Harbor Court ($5 flat rate), Harbor Square ($2 flat rate), the TOPA Building (AMFAC) ($4 flat rate), and Pacific Guardian Center (Grosvenor Center) ($2 flat rate).
