SUMMER WRAPS WITH A SCREAM AS BISHOP MUSEUM’S “SCREAM MACHINES: THE SCIENCE OF ROLLER COASTERS” CLOSES AUGUST 29
HONOLULU –“Scream Machines: the Science of Roller Coasters” ends its thrilling run at Bishop Museum’s Castle Hall on Sunday, August 29, 2004. The interactive exhibit has been a huge summer blockbuster with its 11 multi-station interactive components including, favorite rides such as the Tumble-Vision display, the G-Force bicycle and the six roller coaster simulators, just to name a few. Designed by the Ontario Science Centre, the thrill-seeking exhibit explores the physiology and psychology of thrill seeking and has provided unruly encounters with G-Forces for kids of all ages throughout the summer. The exhibit will close on August 29, 2004 and the public is encouraged to take advantage of this exciting and educational traveling exhibit before it hits the road again, but remember to wear appropriate covered footwear when visiting. A treasured resource of Hawaiian history and heritage Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop as a tribute to his wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha dynasty. Located at 1525 Bernice Street, the Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $14.95 for adults; $11.95 for youth 4-12 years, special rates for kama‘āina, seniors and military; children under 4 years and Bishop Museum Association members are free.
