BISHOP MUSEUM PROMOTES KATHY IZON TO EXHIBITS DIRECTOR
HONOLULU - Bishop Museum has promoted Kathleen Izon to Exhibits Director. She is responsible for supporting the Museum’s public programs, in-house and traveling exhibitions, and Campus beautification projects. In addition, she coordinates the design, fabrication and installation of exhibits scheduled for the museum's sister properties such as Hawai‘i Maritime Center and the Bishop Museum Collection at the Hawaiian Arts and Culture Center at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Hilton Hawaiian Beach Resort & Spa. Most recently, Izon served as a junior designer at Bishop Museum. Prior to joining the Museum, she was art director at the Japanese Cultural Center, responsible for exhibition content, design and installation. In addition, she interned at the Education department at The Honolulu Academy of Arts, developing children's programs in conjunction with exhibition design. Izon holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawai‘i and an Associate Degree in Graphic Design. She also serves her country as an Air Force Reserves Officer for an Aerial Port Squadron at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawai‘i. A treasured resource of Hawaiian history and heritage, Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop as a tribute to his wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha dynasty. Located at 1525 Bernice Street, the Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $14.95 for adults; $11.95 for youth 4-12 years; special rates for kama‘āina, seniors and military; children under 4 years and Bishop Museum Association members are free.
