BMA COUNCIL ANNOUNCES OFFICERS AND NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2004
HONOLULU – The Bishop Museum Association (BMA) Council has announced the election of the following 2004 officers: President Marylou Foley, Outrigger Waikiki Beachfront Hotels; 1 st Vice President Charles Fortner, Island Page; 2 nd Vice President Patti-Jo Chong, AT&T Hawai‘i ; Treasurer Wayne Sterling, Prudential Hawai‘i ; and Secretary Mark Fox, The Nature Conservancy of Hawai‘i.
In addition, the council has elected two new members, including radio personality Mike Buck, for KHVH AM830 / Clear Channel Radio Hawai‘i and Maria Kaimipono Orr, an independent research consultant.
Established in 1953, the BMA Council represents the interests of Bishop Museum’s nearly 8,000 members. The BMA Council is responsible for helping to facilitate membership campaigns and increased membership benefits by partnering with local companies, coordinating special events such as Treat Street and Moonlight Mele on the Lawn, and developing public programs like the popular Kupuna series.
A treasured resource of Hawaiian history and heritage, Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop as a tribute to his wife Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha dynasty. Bishop Museum is a private, non-profit corporation that is owned and governed by a volunteer board of directors. Operating entities of the corporation are Bernice P.
