Science Educator
JOB DESCRIPTION – Essential Job Responsibilities:
Full-time position; Monday – Friday, but with weekend and evening hours also part of the position. Present science outreach programs at schools and community events both on O‘ahu and on neighbor islands. Present science education programs to both school groups and general public at Bishop Museum. Work with science education team in seeking science education grants. Work with science education team in developing new programs and refining existing programs.
MAJOR DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
13. Perform other duties as required to meet Museum goals.
14. Interact with staff, museum clients, contractors, and others with tact, courtesy, and unqualified respect at all times. Stay motivated and project a positive and professional attitude toward fellow workers and clients.
§ Classroom teaching experience, especially recent experience in the classroom, is valuable
§ Program delivery experience in formal (classroom) or informal (museum/aquarium/zoo/etc) settings.
§ Experience in public speaking/performance.
§ Strong technical skills (computer programming etc.) preferred
§ Science background is a strong plus.
§ Experience in doing program evaluation a plus.
§ Must be flexible, patient, able to work weekends and evenings as needed. Must enjoy working with school children and with general public. Strong team member skills necessary. Must be able to handle multiple projects and maintain composure under pressure. Experience with both PC and Mac platforms desirable.

§ Valid Hawaii driver’s license required.
