Collections Technician I (Vertebrate Zoology)
Job Description:
Bishop Museum is looking for a skilled Collections Technician to assist with databasing, filing, and specimen processing and preparation. Ideally the candidate should have some experience in museums and be skilled in preparing bird and mammal research skins and skeletons.
Education, knowledge and skills:
High school diploma; undergraduate student, or graduate student, in museum studies, vertebrate zoology, biology, or related field.
Computer (data basing, word-processing) experience.
Ability to read, write, and type accurately and efficiently.
Experience in vertebrate zoology collections management.
Ability to work with minimum amount of supervision on often monotonous tasks.
Ability to prioritize tasks and follow-through until completed.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to follow and read/comprehend detailed instructions.
Interest in vertebrate zoology or museum studies desirable.
