Job Description:
Bishop Museum is seeking a motivated individual(s) to assist with the databasing, imaging, filing, and processing of specimen as part of an NSF-funded project collaborating with the American Museum of Natural History to data capture selected material housed in the Entomology Collections.
Duration:
476 hrs casual hire, beginning October 17, 2011
Education, knowledge & skills:
High school diploma; undergraduate student, or recently graduated student enrolling in a graduate degree in entomology, environmental science, biology, or related field (preferred but not essential). High school students (grades 11-12) with an interest in biological science or museum studies may also apply. Computer (data basing, word-processing) experience (preferred but not essential). Ability to read, write, and type accurately and efficiently (essential). Ability to work with minimum amount of supervision on often monotonous tasks. Ability to prioritize tasks and follow-through until completed. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow and read/comprehend detailed instructions. Interest in insect taxonomy or museum studies desirable.
