Program Elements
An exhibit at Bishop Museum
From: May 18 - December 3, 2000
Where: Castle Building, Second Floor
This exhibition includes:
- "Make-your-own robot" stations
- Simulated Mars terrain for testing your robot
- Hands-on Science Demo
- Student visions: student art and science projects showing visions of a future colony on Mars
- A hands-on program for students K-8
- Visit the exhibit and participate in a hands-on science activity!
- Find out about the atmosphere, climate, gravity, and terrain of Mars and then go on a mission to explore Mars and look for evidence of life!
- Resources of teachers to conduct Mars learning in the classroom
- Bring your students to the museum's exhibit and conduct classroom about Mars and its comparisons to Earth
- Have your students create their visions of a future colony on Mars and put it in the museum exhibit. It could be drawings, models, sculpture, paintings, songs, dramatics skits, poetry, or whatever they dream up.
- Borrow a Lending Box for your students to make Mars-exploring robots.
- To Mars! Teachers' Guidebook will be available in early summer 2000
- Attend a Teachers' Workshop in summer 2000 to help you prepare for a Learning Unit about Mars in your classroom
- An Interactive Website --Do fun, online activities and chat with scientists and artists in Hawai‘i .
