Welcome to to On-Line version of "Backyard Aliens: A Close Encounter"
Exhibit, designed and produced by Bishop Museum. Here is information
on the physical Backyard Aliens exhibit
now showing at Bishop Museum.
We have a whole exhibit here for you to wander through and learn about Alien Species.
The introduction of aliens to the Hawaiian Islands has been disastrous to some native animals and plants. Some have completely disappeared, others are seriously endangered. Hawai‘i has more endangered species per square mile than any other place
in the world.
Are you
concerned about the spread of alien pests? Look at where
others have reported alien pests since we started this exhibit,
or report
your own.
In 1992,
the State Legislature established the Hawai‘i Biological Survey
at the Bishop Museum to locate and inventory the State's plant and
animal species. Take a look
