Wallabies: Kalihi's unique backyard aliens

The Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby came from Australia, but scientists cannot identify the parent colony of the Hawai‘i animals. The Kalihi wallaby is different from all remaining kinds of Australian wallabies in physical appearance and body chemistry. Our wallaby is unique!

How many wallabies live in Kalihi Valley? Estimates of the size of the wallaby population have ranged from fewer than 40 to about 250.
