The Most Isolated Place on Earth

The Hawaiian Islands are more than 2,000 miles from any continent. Only a few kinds of seeds, birds and insects made the long trip to settle here on their own. But man arrived bringing plants and animals from all over the world - on canoes, ships and airplanes. New "aliens" arrive by the hundreds in Hawai‘i each year. They change our landscapes and the way we live.
